Caitlin Hall is the owner and farmer at ReRoot Organic Farm, and she has been farming organically since 2004. Caitlin attended the University of Waterloo, where she completed a Bachelor of Environment Studies, specializing in Environment & Resource Studies. ReRoot Organic has been in business since 2007, and on May 30th, they will be hosting a grand opening for the farm store on their property. Caitlin was motivated to go into business for herself because she like the diversity of tasks and problem solving afforded to her by running her own business. She finds being in business for herself to be very rewarding, and she appreciates the flexibility that comes with managing her own time. Caitlin hosts 2 – 3 interns at her farm every season. These interns are typically young, educated people from non-farming backgrounds who are looking for education and experience in sustainable agriculture.

ReRoot provides certified organic produce, pastured meats, free-range eggs, raw honey and other local food products to the community. They also participate in the Community Shared Agriculture program, which provides them with community support and ensures a local market in which they can distribute their products. ReRoot differs from other farms in the way they market all of their products directly to their customers. Caitlin bases her business on the relationship between her as a farmer, and her customers as consumers. Her customers know all of the intimate details of her farm and business, 

and they enjoy visiting her at the farm to learn more about how her products are grown and raised! The staff at ReRoot takes special care to ensure the health and happiness of their livestock, as well as the sustainability of their farming practices. Caitlin believes that Minto is the ideal location for her business, due to the vibrant community and great soil for farming. It is also a short distance to larger city centres such as Guelph and Kitchener-Waterloo.

In the future, Caitlin is hoping to further expand on her farm sales and promote her new farm store. In the near future, we are hoping to add a certified kitchen to our facility, which would allow us to prepare preserves & baked goods to sell.
